Makeup Artists and Hairstylists: A Forum on Contemporary TechniqueThis three-evening seminar series offers a detailed look at contemporary motion picture makeup and hairstyling techniques from the perspective of the practitioners themselves. Each week’s topic will be illuminated by film clips, on stage discussions with working makeup artists and hairstylists, and questions from the audience.

Terra Cotta Warriors: Guardians of China's First EmperorBowers Museum presents the largest exhibit of Emperor Qin's Terra Cotta Army ever seen outside of China. The 100 objects include 14 of the life-size terra cotta figures from 2000 years ago. Detailed on some are so complete that even the rivets on the armor are visible. (Now that's detail!) Represented are generals, warriors, court officials and acrobats.

The Fawnskin Victorian Festival - Big Bear & Grand Mask BallHosted in the lovely little town of Fawnskin, the Victorian Festival is a day in Charles Dickens’ London – a city filled with lively and colorful characters from both literature and history. Come join us for an adventure in this elegant era with hundreds of costumed players in music halls, pubs and dance parties. Explore our winding lanes, finding trinkets and treasures while surrounded by enticing aromas of hearty foods and the joyous sound of music in the air. Activities include a Victorian Tea, Tea with the Queen, and readings by Charles Dickens, Edgar Allan Poe, Mark Twain, and other literary artists of the 19th century. We will have demonstrations of the Gatling gun, cannon, and a battle of the Queen's Royal Army!
Grand Masque BallThe Grand Masque Ball under the Big Bear Lake stars is on Saturday night. It is a costumed affair. Formal attire required; Victorian costume preferred. Note: There also is a spectator gallery where mundane clothing is accepted.

Picnic Toasting the 75th Anniversary of the End of Prohibition"Travel back in time to the 1930s to spend a delightful afternoon picnicking on a vintage green surrounded by historic homes. The afternoon will include dancing to live music provided by the Bilgewater Rats, prizes for picnic presentation, vintage car display, Prohibition-inspired cocktails, an Art Deco furnished house exhibit, a drawing for many vintage items, and a feast for the eyes of vintage fashion and picnic displays of exuberant "deco"-dence."

Fashion on A PlateDiscover the origins of fashion plate illustrations and their importance in Fashion on A Plate. Explore the reasons why fashion illustration was used 100 years ago, how early fashion plates were produced, and the influence these illustrations had on how fashion was marketed for centuries. This unique exhibit showcases a series of forty fashion images from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries and textiles provided by private collections. (Due to the nature of the textiles included in this exhibit, no photography is allowed.)

The Purse and the Person: A Century of Women's PursesThe Purse & the Person brings together life stories buried right under our noses -- in the purses carried by our mothers and grandmothers. Developed from a private collection of over 3,000 purses and accessories, this exhibition looks at purses from the inside out, examining day-to-day life reflected in a very personal, very female artifact cache -- a woman's handbag. The exhibit's run at the Pasadena Museum of History is part of a nine-city national tour over a three-year period, containing over 100 purses along with an equal amount of artifacts and photographs.

Members of Local 705 Costumer's Union will be gathering together to sell costume pieces, clothing, crafts, fabrics, supplies and books. Bring cash for a great shopping spree to help out costumer's effected by the current Hollywood strike.
